Berkeley Square (1933): A review.

Wow, this community is dead. Maybe this will help. I found Berkeley Square on YouTube and posted a review on my own LJ. I'm reposting it here 'cause why not. Warning for vulgarities, but we're (probably) all adults here, so meh.

So I finally got around to watching Berkeley Square.Collapse )

I'm new to all this online posting. I only started so I could connect with other Leslie fans. I am happy to see that there are people out there who remember all his great films. He was an amazing actor and deserves to be remembered in a fitting manner other than "That actor who played Ashley Wilkes in Gone With the Wind".

Hi friends. I see nobody has been posting for a long time. It's such a pity! I cannot believe you have forgotten Leslie. He is always in our hearts!

Well ehm hi.......here comes another (female, yes Leslie did it again) fan of LH. I'm glad I've found this site about him and that there are so many people as weird as me. The problem is, after one has seen pictures like "The petrified forest", "the scarlet pimpernel" or "pimpernel smith" how is it possible to forget him? An still his misteriuos charme is there, hidden in his eyes his voice his not-so-beautiful but unforgettable face. I want to know more about Leslie, he was so elusive ... yes, that's what intrigues me most.

Keats here. This website wasn't around a few years ago when I was looking for a Leslie Howard website. Only found one back then that no one ever touches! I had seen some wonderful footage of Howard rallying the masses in Trafalgar Square - in some documentary, but never can find it again. TCM occasionally runs the propaganda spot he did from a rooftop with troops from 3 countries, I  believe. Do you know if the new documentary will have anything like this? Also on YouTube saw the still shots of the plaque that was dedicated overlooking the Bay of Biscay, but jeez, woulda been nice to have MOVING shots of it! LOL Heard what they were saying... you know. Thanks and greetings new comrades!

Hi, fellow Leslie fans!  I'm posting a clip of Thomas Hamilton's documentary of Leslie, which is in the final stages.  He has posted info about his film previously on this site; now, I'm posting a clip to let you see just how great this movie will be.  I'm especially excited about this film because it has highlights of Leslie's never-before-seen home movies and exclusive interviews with his surviving child, Doodie.

Please take a look and if there is any way you can financially participate, it would be most appreciated.  This is our opportunity to show others why we love Leslie!

Hi! It's great to be part of this community! In case you haven't guessed (and why shouldn't you) I'm here because of my interest in Leslie Howard. Since I first saw him in Pygmalion I've been curious about his life and career, not to mention I'm one of those ladies (yes, I'm female) who's become deeply infatuated with his charm, eloquence, and in particular, his mesmerizing, beautiful eyes...

Well, you get the picture. Anyway, being fascinated with him as I am, it's pretty unlikely I won't fit in around here (after all, why else would anyone join "The Leslie Howard Society"?), so I sincerely hope to make the most of my time here!
